San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD)
This new child development center, sharing a site with the city's largest
community garden, will be San Francisco's first solar-powered school. The
environmentally conscious design concept emerged from an intensive
collaboration between 450 Architects, community groups and the San Francisco
Unified School District. The new school building incorporates the surrounding
gardens and play areas to stretch the concept of a classroom. "Green" building
materials and a simple, safe structural system complement the energy-efficient
design.
