Live Power Farm
Working closely with the owners of Live Power, a biodynamic farm, 450 developed a design
for a simple shed that would keep farm equipment out of the elements and also serve as a
mounting platform for solar photovoltaic panels. In keeping with the client’s desire to live
harmoniously with the earth they work, the materials for the shed would be mostly reclaimed
(as in the wood columns and roof framing) or recycled (as in the metal roofing). The orientation,
dimensions, and structure of the shed allow for a straightforward installation of the solar panels
on the roof in a position that maximizes their power gain with a single-axis sun-tracking device.
