History

While attending Cornell University's College of Architecture, Richard Parker and David Bushnell became good friends. Both graduated in 1984, but Richard headed west while David worked on the East Coast and in Europe. Their design work and experiences differed but their environmentally conscious, collaborative way of working remained very much in synch. They kept in touch. In 1995, the two joined up on a project proposal in San Francisco. Their proposal was accepted, and the timing seemed right for the two to go into business together. Their studio opened at 450 Clementina Street in 1996. From the start, the practice has reflected their mutually shared perspective. The studio exemplifies a dedication to the client and close attention to detail, is committed to deliver on green building principles, and embraces a spirit of advocacy and activism. This accomplished and rewarding partnership will celebrate its 10th year in business as 450 architects, inc., in 2005.
