WHO: 450 architects was established in 1995 by Richard Lee Parker,
AIA, and David Bushnell, AIA. Our practice prizes individual creativity.
At the same time, we work together in an open studio environment. And that
says a lot about who we are: collaborative, democratic, and focused on
an end result we can all take pride in. WHAT: Our award-winning studio provides comprehensive architectural
design, bid, and construction administration services for public and
private clients throughout California. We emphasize sustainable building
practices and strive for cost-effective solutions. We have an eye for
details. Our standards are high. What's more, we understand the building
process because we're builders at heart.
The practice is also known for solar and sustainable building
consulting. Our aim is to educate the client about what products and
technologies are currently available, to what benefit, and at what cost.
These services range from full design to any combination of services,
including: building-integrated solar and architectural design; project
oversight; healthy building strategies; energy efficiency and
conservation; recycled-content materials selection; and low-maintenance
landscape design.
WHERE: Tiny, mid-block Clementina Street, with its long warehouses and
industrial buildings, lies at the heart of San Francisco's blue-collar,
South of Market neighborhood. Our design studio shares this growing SoMa
development zone with small manufacturers, fabricators, artisans,
and others who appreciate its diverse vitality and creativity. AND WHY: 450 architects believes in the power of beautiful and soulful
design, a job very well done, resources conserved. We're community-minded
and environmentally conscious. Never just a school or just a home,
each project receives a thoughtful and refined solution that builds from
the unique qualities and energy of its site. Our design process invites
client participation, neighborhood input, and teamwork. We make reasonable
compromises: balance is critical. Our practice thrives on being able to
inspire broad support by successfully integrating disparate ideas,
attitudes, and points of view. Indeed, our most successful projects
inevitably arise from spirited collaboration. Certification
450 architects is certified as a Local Business Enterprise (LBE) by the
San Francisco Human Rights Commission (HRC). |
